"It scares me," he said, "I'll live until this world chooses to give out beneath my feet. You won't..."

"I wouldn't mind dying," he said solemnly. Again with the morbidness that had been eating at him for the last few days.

"I'm sorry," he muttered, "It bothers me too." He knew of two releases from his anxiety. One included suicide. But it's hard to arrange your own creamation.

He put an arm around her. "This is why it doesn't work," he said, "This is why a vampire and a human don't usually fall in love."

"I would never turn you away, my love," he said. He held her protectively, as if at any moment she could be taken away. The truth was, she could. "I would never I promise."

she gazed up at him and nodded"okay."she said smileing slightly. she wraped her arms around him and rested her head on his shoulder."can you read to me?" she asked. she would ask him that every time she was down. she loved the sound of his voice when he read to her.

Artemis looked at the book that was closed around one of his fingers. "The Canterbury Tales" by Chaucer. He shrugged and opened it.
"Whan that Aprille with hise shoures soote The droughte of March hath perced to the roote, And bathed every veyne in wsich licour Of which vertu engendred in the flour; Whan Zephirus eek with his sweete breath..."
And so he recited the rhythmic prologue of Chaucer's final poem.

He felt her leaning against him and heard the poetry in his own ears. All other sounds seemed to dissipate except for her that and her breathing. He was almost intoxicated by her scent.
"A knyght ther was, and that a worthy man, That fro the tyme that he first bigan To ridden out, he loved chivalrye, Trouthe and honour, fredom and curteisye..."
He slowed his reading, losing interest in it. He closed the book and continued to recite from memory. He leaned his head against her and recited.
"...Ful worthy was he in his lordes werre, And therto hadde he riden, no man ferre, As wel in christendom as in herthenesse..."

her breathing grew even as she sliped off to sleep. she relaxed against him and sighed softly, her scent wafting strongly up to him. the smell of roses was heavy in the air.

Artemis tried to keep ahold of his senses, tried to simply ignore his natural insinct and let her stay there. He stopped when he realized she was asleep. Her heart hypnotyzed him as it pumped the blood through her miles of veins and arteries. He reached up and stroked her hair. Then he brushed his fingers lightly against her neck. The pulse seemed intesified by his touch. All he could smell was her blood as his eyes closed and his head fell to position his face in the crook of her neck. Before he could stop himself he could taste her, the sweet nector that kept her alive as it ran from her neck over his teeth.

she moved and her eyes fluttered open. what was going on? her breathing solowy sped up as her eyes wattered and soft whimpers escaped form her mouth. what was going on?? her mind panicked for a breif moment before the pain hit her like a kick of a horse.she cryed out and dug her fingers into his back, her grip tightening as the pain turned to fire and the world grew bright."ar-ar-artamis..."she choked out her grip loosening as she weakened.

He released her, her voice bringing him to his senses. It took him a few seconds to figure out just what he'd done. When he did, he recoiled from her, dropping the book on the floor. He could still taste her and that alone scared him. He stood and went up to a book shelf to lean against it and be away from her. 'You're going to kill her, you fool,' he scolded himself.

she fell back and gasped for air, tears streaking down her cheeks. blood ran down her neck and her body trembled. a sob escaped her mouth as she strugled to focus on him."help...me"she whimpered.
