Rose was blind. She had been sense she was a small child and was used to darkness. Her dress was shabby and old but she didn’t mind. The only new thing she had was a long mahogany staff etched with small delicate designs, runes she was told, that spelled her true name. She had a thick black band over her eyes, hiding the scars and the dead eyes, only they seemed to hold life when no one was looking, even though they were still white in appearance. She tapped the ground softly, letting the noise and smell wash over her as the staff hit a strangers foot warning her that she was much to close to the owner.

((I want to see if I can get all of the boards flaming at the same time...)) Geoff's heart beat like no tomorrow deep in his chest. clutched in his hand there was a stolen piece of bread. A very little stolen piece of bread. This was Geoff's degrading proffession when he had no other way of getting food. His scrawny body pushed itself to the limit under his loose, ragged clothes as he tried desperately to hide from his persuers. He hated when he got caught because it is virtually impossible for some one as white as he to hide on the street. His pink-red eyes shot from here to here looking for anything that might serve as protection. There were very few people on the street today, so he couldn't hide in the crowd. He was left to his last option, hope his legs don't get tired and he doesn't run into a dead end.

He looked back to see the owners of his supper falling behind ever so slowly. When he looked forward he saw that he was on a collision course with a blind woman. He saw the bandage over her eyes and knew. He started to move out of her way just as he ran into her, falling forward.

Geoff held his feet up and let the blow hit his captive. The grip on his neck loosened and he wrenched free, just as the baker fell to one knee. He took the blind woman's hand and led her away so she wouldn't get into any trouble and slipped into a crowded tavern room. For some reason everyone was inside. "Forgive me, lady," he said

"I stole his bread," Geoff admitted quietly and guiltily. "It wasn't much, though! He wouldn't have missed it. I wouldn't have gotten caught if it weren't for my damn hands."

Geoff had almost forgotten she was blind. "Oh, my skins too light not to be noticed," he said, "I hope he forgets soon, because I want to go back there next time."

"Beautiful?" he repeated, "Me? No, I'm simply a ghost." He looked out the window at the befudled baker as he stood and walked away.
